Personality: A mystery who doesn't let anyone near her, Natasha keeps herself to herself, building walls to protect herself. To the outside world she is calm and collected, an efficient and ruthless spy, and definitely someone you'd like to have your back on a mission. Behind closed doors is a completely different matter; Natasha is haunted by her past and harbours a deep self-hatred. Her insistence to wipe the red that she has in her ledger out is her trying to make amends with her past, one day at a time. She hardly ever wears her heart on her sleeve and getting an emotion out of her if you are not a close friend is extremely rare. However in the company of close friends, she allows herself some emotion and is very easy to get along with. She is confident yet modest, blunt, hard-working, and would do anything to protect the people she cares about.

Skills and Talents: Black Widow is a world class athlete, gymnast, aerialist capable of numerous complex maneuvers and feats, expert martial artist, markswoman, and weapons specialist, a natural actress, an infamous seductress, and a gifted veteran spy. She is also an accomplished ballerina. She is extensively trained in combat, and can coordinate her body with balance, flexibility, and dexterity easily. Natasha has a gifted intellect. She displays an uncanny affinity for psychological manipulation and can mask her real emotions perfectly. She possesses the ability to quickly process multiple information streams (such as threat assessment) and rapidly respond to changing tactical situations. Natasha is an expert tactician. History: The war was over. HYDRA had been stopped and peace had returned to the world. A redhead assassin codenamed Red Falcon was sent to West Berlin with strict orders to seduce and destroy a member of the Howling Commandos who was working at the West Berlin section of the SIS. The mission should have been simple enough. Seduce him, then kill him. But when she met him, she was thrown; he was nothing like the reports painted him to be: he was charming, funny, an adrenaline junkie, snarky. So much different than the men in her own life. And despite her better judgement, she ended up falling for him. But the biggest trouble was yet to come - a few months later the woman found out she was pregnant. Fearing execution if she returned back to her own country, and knowing that England wouldn't offer her asylum, the woman ran away and completely fell off the grid, starting her life afresh in a tiny village in Ukraine.  

Her daughter grew up having no idea of her mother's past. Eventually she met a charming Russian and when they got married, she followed him back to Russia. Loving Kseniya more than her freedom and safety, Katya went with the two. Nine months later on a blustery spring morning, a healthy baby girl with a shocking mop of red hair was born into the world. She didn't know it yet as she grinned happily at the nurses, scrunching her pink face up at them, but assassination was in her blood, and she would follow in her grandmother's footsteps even though she wouldn't know it.

Disaster struck when the KGB found out that Red Falcon was in the country once again, and branding her a traitor, began tracking her. In an attempt to get information on her whereabouts, Natasha's parents were tortured and killed. Fearing for her grand-daughter, Katya turned to Ivan, a close family friend, and left him with baby Natasha. Ivan raised the baby girl as best he could. Natasha loved him like her real father, though Ivan made sure that she knew who her real parents were. He gave her a locket with a family photo in it, a memento that she still keeps (albeit very well hidden) to this day. Natasha would often talk about how she wanted to help her homeland, and deciding that she should train as a spy, Ivan took her Department X to take part in the U.S.S.R.'s "Black Widow Ops" program. There, along with other young female orphans, she was brainwashed, and trained in combat and espionage at the covert "Red Room" facility.

As the years passed, Natasha grew up to serve as a femme fatale. She quickly became one of the top spy's the country had and was often sent on dangerous missions where there was no hope of return; her ruthless effectiveness earned her the codename, "Black Widow". After getting on SHIELD's radar, a master assassin was sent to take her out, but he made a different call and spared her. At his urging, she defected to America and came to work for SHIELD where she quickly made a name for herself (this time a good one). She stayed partnered with Clint and the two have been working on missions ever since.

Natasha quickly became Director Fury's and Deputy Director Hill's go-to agent when they needed someone to go on a covert mission, and though there were questions about where her true loyalties lay originally, as the years passed she became one of their most trusted agents. Along with Hawkeye, she was picked for the Avengers Initiative and defended New York against Loki.
